The Word for this week is: Truth
The Thought for this week is: God is truth.
God presented Himself to Moses (Exod. 34: 6) not only as one who tells the truth, but also to be Truth Himself. In a day when many believe that truth is relative and no one has the authority to tell others what is true, God proclaims here that He is Absolute Truth. If what God tells us about Himself is not true, then there is no divine standard and society often becomes the standard. More frequently, every man or woman becomes their own standard. God often lamented in the Old Testament that “every man (was) doing whatever is right in his own eyes,” and not “doing what is right in the sight of the Lord”. (Deut. 12:8; 13:18.)
Let us memorize and practice the following words in Proverbs: “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” (Prov. 3: 3.)
