The Word for the week is: “Holy”
The Thought for the week is: God is Perfect in Holiness
Isaiah received his call to be a prophet of God in the sixth chapter of the book of Isaiah. Isaiah described how he saw the Lord in the temple high and lifted up. Above him were six-winged seraphim calling to one another: “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.” The Hebrew language does not have a way to express the superlative degree of something so it repeats the same word three times. In Isaiah’s vision, the seraphim were calling to each other and proclaiming that the Lord was “Most Holy” or “Perfect” in His Holiness.
This week may we visualize God as he truly is: “the Exalted One, the Lord of creation, Perfect in His Holiness”. May we also see ourselves as sinful beings, not worthy to be in the presence of such a Sinless, Holy God. Yet, we can be so thankful that through Christ, we can confess our sins and know that God counts us righteous because of our faith in the blood of Christ. (Rom. 4:5; I John 1: 8-9.)
Let us memorize and pray the following Scripture this week: “Be like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (I Peter 1:15-16; Lev. 19:2)
