The Word for this week is: Gracious
The Thought for this week is: God is gracious
In Exodus chapter 34, God revealed to Moses His second quality: “graciousness.” (vs. 6.) God in the Old Testament showed His gracious spirit numerous time to the children of Israel. God delivered them from Egyptian slavery, opened the waters of the Red Sea, and then fed them with bread and meat in their wilderness wanderings. His gracious hand also helped them conquer the land of Canaan.
However, God’s grace was more fully revealed later when He sent his only Son into our world to bring us back into fellowship with Him. How do we show our appreciation for God’s graciousness? The Apostle Paul tells us two ways: (1) by living righteous lives and (2) by zealously doing good deeds. Let us memorize and pray through the following Scripture:
“For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.” (Titus 2: 11-14.)
