Learn to Read the Greek New Testament in 10 Weeks!

LEARN TO READ THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT IN 10 WEEKS!

WHENOnce weekly, Sunday afternoons – 2:00-4:30 p.m. (September 12 through November 14, 2010)

WHERE?  Britton Road Church of Christ Fellowship Room COST:  Free!  Your only cost is the textbook.

INSTRUCTOR:  Charlie Powell, B.A., M.Th.   (27 yrs. experience teaching all levels of Greek)
Required textbookLearn to Read the Greek New Testament, 5th edition, by Ward Powers.  You are responsible for ordering the book yourself.  The cost is about $65.00 with shipping by air. This textbook is available only directly from the author in Australia via the following website:  http://www.wardpowers.info/LTR.htm or contact the author at ward@bwardpowers.info.

COURSE AIM: By the end of the course the students will be able to read and understand the simpler parts of the Greek New Testament without the use of Greek tools.  They will be able to use Greek lexicons, concordances, grammars, language oriented Bible study software, and other study tools to work out harder texts.  They will also be able to do Greek word studies, basic syntactical and literary analysis.

Note:  This is a unique and intense approach to learning Greek.  You will cover the material normally learned in an entire first year of academic study of the Greek language.  You will begin reading from the Greek New Testament in Lesson Two.  Each 2 ½ hour session will be packed with new information – more than you can master.  Your instructor will specify the core material you need to master from each lesson.  The goal is to be exposed to the entire spectrum of required grammar for a first year student, while mastering only the essentials required to read the Greek New Testament.  This is also a great way to refresh your Greek language skills if you’ve studied Greek previously.

This method works.  You have to trust the teacher.  You have to trust the method. You have to be totally committed to the process, and to studying at least five hours each week outside of class each week.
